Funwheel X7 Long Range

I ordered my LR Prism on May 30th, and it arrived July 3rd. First impression: man, is this thing beautiful. The Prism paired with the X7 rails looks incredible.

I know there have been a lot of complaints about ghosting and faulty footpads, but keep in mind that people are usually much more likely to post when something goes wrong than when everything works perfectly. In my case, the board has been absolutely perfect. I’ve never had an issue with the sensors, ghosting, or the footpads.

I currently have a little over 1,000 miles on the board, and it’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a Onewheel—or whatever we’re calling these things now.

Yes, it’s heavy. There’s no getting around that. You can feel the extra weight while riding, but surprisingly, not in a bad way. It still carves effortlessly and is as nimble as I could ever want it to be, both on the street and on trails. Carrying it isn’t a big deal either unless you’re going a decent distance. If you are, prepare for one hell of a forearm workout.

I don’t mind the stock tire either. It’s not an Enduro, but it’s smooth, predictable, and feels good while riding.

The Range Is Absolutely Insane

I previously owned a GTS, and my biggest complaint was always the range. It sucked. I was constantly left wanting more. I'd drain the battery from 100% down to around 10% and get roughly 15 miles before the fun was over.

The X7 LR is a completely different animal.

I’m 6'2", 210 lbs, and took it out for a proper range test with a mixture of streets and trails. I started at 100% battery and rode 34 continuous miles.

After 34 miles, I looked at the battery.

24% remaining.

I never thought I’d be the guy who tapped out before the board did, but here we are.

And I wasn’t babying it to squeeze out maximum range. I was consistently cruising around 20 mph and pushing the board decently hard throughout the ride.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

For once, I have a board that actually seems capable of delivering the kind of range it advertises. As someone who loves long rides and hates having to turn around because of battery percentage, this completely changes the experience.

And Then There’s the Power…

The power is just as impressive.

I have yet to reach pushback. I’ve had the board up to 28 mph while seeing around 70% duty cycle, and I have yet to find a hill that this thing won't climb.

It just keeps going.

The combination of power and range is what really separates this board for me. Usually, you're compromising somewhere. You get performance but sacrifice range, or you get range and sacrifice performance.

This thing gives me both.

This is also my first VESC board, and I was a little nervous about that going into it. So far, I've had no problems whatsoever.

The board was ready to ride right out of the box, and I actually really like the Funwheel tune. Before receiving it, I religiously watched pretty much every instructional video I could find on the site, and they made understanding the basics of VESC much easier than I expected.

One thing I learned very quickly:

DON'T UPDATE THE FIRMWARE!!

If you're new to VESC like I was, educate yourself first, learn the basics, and don't start changing things just because you can.

Final Thoughts

After more than 1,000 miles, I can confidently say this is my favorite board I've ever owned.

If you're a range seeker like me—someone who just wants to get on the board, ride for hours, explore, and keep going—get this board.

The range is ridiculous.
The power is ridiculous.
It carves beautifully.
It handles trails.
It climbs everything I've thrown at it.
And despite the massive battery and extra weight, it still feels fantastic underneath you.

I honestly didn't think I'd find a board where I got tired before the battery did.

The X7 LR finally did it.

This thing is insane.

I've had this board for 8 days, and it's by far the best board I've ever ridden. But tonight it ghosted at full speed after I dismounted. It went over 30 yards hugging a curb before it hit another curb and flipped on its side. It skidded into the middle of the road in front of on oncoming car, which luckily was approaching a stop sign. Absolutely terrifying. It was still going full speed when I picked it up and would've ran away again when I repeatedly tried to put it upright on the ground. If this had happened earlier it would've been in a crowded park. It had ghosted once earlier, but just for a few feet and I considered it a fluke. It's too dangerous for me to ride this thing, and I can't trust any do-it-yourself fixes with stakes being injury and lawsuits. Now I have to deal with somehow returning it. My X7 dream was great, but it ends here.

So I bought the x7lLR
And I truly love it!
this board is pretty much everythjng I want in a Onewheel
this one being my third board.
I have accumulated about 20 thousand miles between them all. Anyways
The footpad sensors won’t shut off causing the board to ghost (sketchy)
I have reached out to fungineers numerous times with no resolve.
I still have bad sensors
I ordered the board may 30 I had to wait until july3 to get the board and am still unable to ride it safely
I would give a review of five stars except the company is hard to reach
You have to wait 48 hours to get a response ( I did this several times) they asked for pics and I sent them to them and for a guy with no computer it is difficult.
The company keeps referring me to the dichord ( is the Onewheel community gonna replace my bad sensors?)
So the company gets 1 star and the board gets 5 stars
Hopefully they will help me out

I ordered the x7 long range back in 07/2025 I didn’t get it until 11/2025 the wait was harsh. When I got the board I went through some anxiety setting it up on float hub without knowing that it was already set up.

The tiree is really good for a stock tire. But after 500 miles or so it started showing wear- I got the flight fins goat tire.

The foot pads are a little hard and unforgiving- I’m waiting for a set of sticky feet wife foot pads to come in.

And I like footholds so I added flight fins.

Once I get the new footpads I think this board will be perfect.

Best stock board yet. Looking forward to getting a bag high voltage x10 in the future ice it has the hv has as much range as the x7 long range.

This is my first trip into the VESC realm and I a not disappointed. Initialization was no problem and the videos were very accurate and easy to follow.
The board itself is awesome. It arrived within the time specified at order confirmation. There were no issues with startup or activation and after initially recommended checkout worked perfectly. Quiet, smooth, amazing power.
The first time I did a jump mount I about freaked out as there was no crunch to tell me it had engaged! Except that it just took off sooo silky smooth with no hesitancy.
Obviously, I have a lot more miles to put on, different tunes to try, and more challenging conditions to put it to. But first impressions make this a very solid choice!
